Discover Sarasota: What’s New and What’s Coming This Fall

A New Chapter for Beloved Towles Court Cottage

Some restaurants become part of how we remember a place. For 15 years, Indigenous was one of those places in Sarasota. Chef Steve Phelps made the Towles Court cottage a destination for thoughtful, inventive food that celebrated ingredients close to home. I know many of us will miss it.

The cottage at 239 S. Links Avenue will soon welcome ALMA de España, one of my favorite Sarasota restaurants. ALMA is moving from Southside Village and plans to open in November (a grand opening is planned for November 1). I’ve always enjoyed its Spanish tapas and paella, especially the Basque-style cheesecake, and I’m looking forward to seeing it in this new setting.

I’ll be sorry to see Indigenous go. It has left a lasting mark on Sarasota’s dining scene, and I’m excited to see a restaurant I already love make the cottage its new home.
